Make Sure You Are Prepared for Your Next Big Move

Moving out checklist

In your lifetime, you will probably move at least 10 times by the time you are 50 years old. On average, Americas move once every five years. This may not seem like a lot, but when you are in the middle of the moving process then a week can seem like a year. Moving is difficult, but it could be easier if you made sure you had a moving out check list.

For your next big move, create a check list for moving to make the process a little less painful. Here are three as examples to help you get started.

  • Apartment moving checklist.
  • On your list should be a reminder to coordinate with your present and future landlords. Did you return the keys to the old landlord?? Has he or she returned your security deposit? You should include on your list a reminder to check on the exact availability of the next apartment. It would be very inconvenient to end up at the new apartment before the old tenant was fully moved out.

  • Home moving checklist.
  • When moving between homes, you should include on your list to have utilities turned on at the new place, and turned off at the old, on dates that are coordinated with your move. Make sure to thoroughly check every closet, and your attic and basement for any items you might have left behind. Do not forget to check your backyard, or property as well.

  • Local moving checklist.
  • Moving locally can be kind of fun, because you can ask friends and family in the area to help you. If you do not need to hire a moving fan, friends and family can help you move your belongings caravan style. If you do this, then make sure you put on your moving checklist to get beer and pizza for them when the move is complete. Also, make sure that you change your address on your bills and subscriptions. Your check list for moving should also account for the items mentioned in the previous two checklists.

No matter where you move, unless it is next door, movers are probably a necessity. Do not forget to get enough boxes, packing tape, and newspapers to secure your belongings safely. If you have any pets, then that is another aspect of your move that you should have planned out in advance. Whether you are moving from an apartment to a house, or from your house to another house, make sure you have a check list for moving to make the transition as easy as possible.
