In 1998, the British Retail Consortium developed and introduced the BRC Food Technical Standard for the evaluation of retailers’ food products brands, all as a response to industry needs. Since then, the issue of food sanitation and proper handling methods for food have come into play in a more serious role across the world.

The Energy Management Standard, ISO 50001:2011 was released on June 15, 2011, and is designed to help companies enhance their use of energy consuming assets. Furthermore Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point training and certification ensures that food handlers are using the safest and most effective practices. Haccp certification training is often required in the food service industry as well.

Food service providers do not mess around with food safety. For instance, some food service providers require ISO 22000 certification, Iso 13485 certification or ISO 14001 certification, all of which involve different procedures for food safety.

Senate Bill 303, California Food Handler Car Law, requires Food Handler Cards for all employees who prepare, store or serve food. It makes customers feel a lot more comfortable when they acquire their food from a company that has food safety certification. No one ever wants food poisoning.

  1. Whenever I go out to eat at a restaurant, I like to make sure they have the best and highest sanitation grades. I once ate at an Indian restaurant and left immediately upon the realization there were cats wandering around the kitchen.
